Non-Profit Experience
Colours Caribbean
Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos, United Kingdom
Identifying as a gender-queer, pansexual, polyamorous and transgender woman, Bee has built a strong reputation around representing and supporting her queer community, both locally and regionally, beginning with her TEDx Talk in 2015 that served as the springboard for the launch of a small political campaign, later blossoming into the formation of her country’s first ever LGBTQIA+ non-profit organisation, Colours Caribbean (formerly Colours Cayman), which she founded in 2018 and continues to operate to this day.
Through the work of her organisation, its partners and volunteers, she’s fought to bring marriage equality to the British Overseas Territories in the Caribbean; coordinated with governments both locally and abroad to introduce protections for the marginalised; developed Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) training for government, schools, universities and the private sector; and established the first ever community centre and youth programme dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ people of her nation.
